About Me

I’m Alex Quirino, a Technology Support Specialist at West Auburn High School with hands-on experience supporting and maintaining real-world IT environments. My work includes managing device inventory, repairing Chromebooks on site, troubleshooting Windows and Chrome OS issues, handling account and printer support, and helping staff and students use Google Workspace effectively. I also maintain the school website and publish the Daily Bulletin to make sure communication across campus stays accurate and up to date.

Outside of work, I run a self-hosted home lab built on Unraid where I design, deploy, and maintain my own infrastructure. I host docker services such as Jellyfin, Immich, Nextcloud, Pi-hole, Home Assistant, and this website itself. Everything is accessed securely through a private VPN, and the environment is intentionally lightweight and efficient to reflect real-world operational cost constraints.

I work regularly across Linux and Windows systems and have hands-on experience with Docker networking, ZFS storage, Secure Boot, GPU passthrough and transcoding, and hardware troubleshooting. I write and maintain code in Python, HTML, CSS, and JavaScript, and I prefer simple, auditable systems that are secure by design rather than overly complex stacks that are difficult to maintain.

What sets me apart is my ability to take ownership of systems from the ground up. I’ve planned, built, and operated production-style infrastructure on my own hardware, made decisions around performance, reliability, and security, and troubleshot failures under real constraints. I think in terms of how systems behave at scale, how they can fail, and how to reduce risk before it becomes a problem. I’m continuing to grow toward roles in networking and security where I can apply this mindset to building and defending reliable, high-impact systems.
